I wasn't sure how I would like a story from this time period and the race riots but it was ok. I read to relax in the evening and read light romance or romantic suspense and this was between the two genres. The writing is good although not real 'smooth'. The plot quickly captured my attention and held through the book. It did leave a few unanswered questions but perhaps the next book continues on?

An amazing book, it caught my interest from the start. It is a story about hate, love, family, and more. These are the kind of books that should be read by students learning American History. The story is about Tessa, a young Christian woman, with a very strong faith in our Lord and His teachings and she never wavers from that! .
Hate is strong, but God's love is stronger, and that is what this book teaches us.
I plan on reading the entire series as this is the kind of Historical Christian books I love, especially when based on true factual history. I loved it!
